About Small Business and Residential VoIP

Voip phone service requires a high speed broadband Internet connection such as Cable or DSL. A Broadband connection is ALWAYS ON and supplied either by your Cable Company through a cable modem, or by way of your local phone company or re-seller using a DSL modem. In either case you will be all set to take full advantage of the features and savings that each VoIP service provider has to offer!

To use these services a router is required (very inexpensive) to connect your phones to the internet. Your computer is not required to make or receive calls.

Secondly you will require an analog adapter that converts digital voice packets into analog signal so that you may continue using the same phones that you use today. This adapter is supplied to you at no charge or a low cost from the companies listed below.

VoIP is easy to set up and the VoIP service providers here have very responsive customer and technical support for any questions you may have.

Did you use VoIP several years ago and have a problem with dropped packets and echo. The technology is now much improved but still depends on the speed of your internet connection. I recommended only cable in the past, but with the recent improvements I have found that most DSL also works fine with these services.
Businesses with multiple phone lines and internet users will probably require a T1 line to ensure enough bandwidth. Michael Fedeli, Shop4Tel.com
